Awards

DOC NYC presents a Grand Jury Prize to one film in each of its competitive sections, determined by juries of filmmakers, critics, film executives and documentary experts. Juries may present additional awards at their discretion.

The festival also presents an Audience Award to the highest-scoring film screened in the Viewfinders and Metropolis competitions, as determined by audience ballots.

2010 Metropolis Grand Jury Prize:

TO BE HEARD, directed by Roland Legiardi-Laura, Edwin Martinez, Deborah Shaffer and Amy Sultan

2010 Metropolis Special Jury Prize:

LOST BOHEMIA, directed by Josef “Birdman” Astor

In 2010, the “Metropolis” jury was comprised of author/producer Nelson George, Tom Hall of the Sarasota Film Festival, and New York Magazine culture editor Mary Kaye Schilling.

2010 Viewfinders Grand Jury Prize:

WINDFALL, directed by Laura Israel

In 2010, the “Viewfinders” jury was comprised of film critic John Anderson, film writer Christopher Campbell, and Cinereach grant manager Adella Ladjevardi .

2010 DOC NYC Audience Award:

TO BE HEARD, directed by Roland Legiardi-Laura, Edwin Martinez, Deborah Shaffer and Amy Sultan

Winners of the Grand Jury Prize received a 35mm Film Recording and Digital Cinema Package (DCP), provided by The Documentary Film Group at PostWorks New York and Laser Pacific Los Angeles, offering comprehensive post and laboratory services for non-fiction filmmakers including data workflows, edit systems, multi-format conform, color grading, 35mm prints and digital cinema.
