Special Guests Spotlight: Spandau Ballet in Soul Boys of the Western World

October 26, 2014

In their first New York appearance since 1983, the British New Wavers of Spandau Ballet will reunite for the DOC NYC premiere of Soul Boys of the Western World. Founded in the late ’70s, Spandau Ballet ruled the airwaves through the 1980s, emerging from the New Romantic era to dominate the pop charts for much of the decade. Known for such hits as “True,” “Gold” and “Communication,” they left their mark on both music and fashion until their acrimonious break-up in 1990.

Screening in our Special Events section, the film will be followed by an intimate discussion between the bandmates and director George Hencken, as they reflect on the highs and lows of their success. Don’t miss it!
