NYC PREMIERE! The transcendentally original musical/interdisciplinary NYC-based artist Meredith Monk has been creating and performing over six decades. Pioneering new vocabularies of sound and imagery as she broke through in the 1960s and ‘70s downtown arts scene, Monk’s talent is appreciated in this mosaic telling, inspired by Monk’s own avant-garde ideas. Featuring interviews with Björk, David Byrne and many others, MONK IN PIECES is the beautiful, definitive survey of her work and life that she richly deserves.
The screening will be followed by an on-stage conversation with director Billy Shebar, producer Susan Margolin and film participant Katie Geissinger.
