Ask Us Anything: Digital Security for Doc Filmmakers
Thurs., March 26. 12-1:15pm ET. . OnlineThis event is co-hosted by the Documentary Producer’s Alliance.
Documentary filmmaking now demands a clear understanding of digital security, yet when it comes to safely storing footage, securely transferring files, and protecting sensitive materials, many filmmakers find themselves navigating a complicated and often confusing landscape. This session is for any filmmaker who wants to be confident that their footage is being stored and transported safely, no matter the scale or stage of their project.
Join experts Harlo Holmes, Director of Digital Security, and Davis Erin Anderson, Senior Digital Security Trainer, from Freedom of the Press Foundation for an Ask Us Anything session to dive into all your digital concerns.
To maximize value for participants, the session is structured around pre‑submitted questions from attendees, which will be addressed live. This approach grounds the conversation in real‑world challenges while exploring concrete ways to protect your work. Sample topics include personal safety and device protection, secure storage and data transfer, and strategies for safeguarding sensitive footage across regions or borders.
