THEYDREAM

The tireless fight for labor justice in the United States has long drawn in individuals struggling for fair working conditions and compensation—not only for themselves, but for future generations. In Who Moves America, DOC NYC alum Yael Bridge examines the tense 2023 contract negotiations between UPS and its 340,000 unionized workers as they press the company for critical improvements to keep pace with changes in an increasingly precarious economy.

The first screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Yael Bridge, producers Yoni Golijov, Mars Verrone, and Jeremy Flood, and protagonist Antonio Rosario.

All in-person screening venues provide sound amplification headphones upon request with venue management. IFC Center can also provide a T-Coil loop for compatible devices.

If poetry had a pop icon, Mary Oliver would be it. The best-selling poet and Pulitzer Prize-winner’s words inspire liberals and conservatives, atheists and believers, naturalists and urbanites. She was America’s unlikely, contemporary mystic, stalking the ponds and forests of Cape Cod for nearly fifty years in order to open herself—and her readers—to the known and unknowable world. Sasha Waters’ beguiling portrait features poems read by Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Buscemi, Stephen Colbert, Lucy Dacus, and Oprah Winfrey.

The first screening will be followed by a Q&A with director/producer Sasha Waters.

Manhood follows Dallas businessman Bill Moore as he sets out to make penis enlargement as commonplace as Botox. Along the way, a gay porn star and a father of five put their bodies—and their insecurities—on the line. Filmed over two years, Manhood explores shame, sex, and the fragile myths of American masculinity, with dark humor and unexpected empathy.

A Life Illuminated follows trailblazing marine biologist Dr. Edie Widder—one of the first women in her field and one of the first humans to explore the ocean’s twilight zone—as she descends 3,300 feet into the ocean’s darkest depths. From capturing the first-ever footage of the elusive giant squid to unveiling glowing mysteries of the deep sea, Edie embarks on her most daring quest yet: to document a bioluminescent phenomenon that could forever change how we understand life on Earth.
