NYC PREMIERE As a young man, Nainoa Thompson became the first native Hawaiian in 600 years to voyage from Hawaii to Tahiti without the aid of modern instruments. 50 years later, he leads a new generation of student navigators on the 2,400-mile journey. Featuring precious archival footage of the late master Mau Piailug, The Navigator is a spiritual cinematic experience that captures the expansive ocean and endless starry skies in an intimate examination of Polynesian wayfinding. – Brandon Harrison
