Dangerous Curves

14 min

WORLD PREMIERE Dangerous Curves is about an autistic man in rural Iowa who starts a sprint car team with the first transgender driver and how their friendship heals both of them. Born intersex, with both male and female genitalia, Terri O’Connell was raised male in the rough and tumble world of southern racing. In 1999, after a lifetime as a successful race car driver, corrective surgery finally freed Terri to start life as her authentic female self. After years of self-medicating to reckon with the psychological challenges of his autism, Scott Galpin is in danger of letting alcoholism burst his dreams. As these two come together for acceptance and validation in the good ol’ boy world of sprint car racing, a community that they grew up in yet has left them as outsiders today, Dangerous Curves tells the story of a friendship that is as unlikely as it is deep and transforming.
