“DOC NYC has quickly become one of the city’s grandest events.” – Wall Street Journal

“DOC NYC has, in only two years, shot to the top tier of our most essential festivals list.” – New York magazine

“DOC NYC is back, offering cineastes the chance to gorge on the latest and greatest in modern nonfiction filmmaking.” – Time Out New York

DOC NYC burst upon the scene in 2010 with an inaugural event that was hailed as “ambitious” (New York Times) and “selective but eclectic” (Village Voice). Based at the IFC Center in Manhattan’s West Village, the nine-day festival showcases new achievements in documentary film along with retrospectives, panels and symposia. The festival also invites documentary practitioners from other fields such as photography, writing, and performance. DOC NYC seeks to make connections that happen “only in New York.”

Last year, DOC NYC featured gala events with Werner Herzog and Michael Moore; noted guests included Charlotte Rampling, Gabriel Byrne, Michael Feinstein, Elliott Erwitt, Bebe Neuwirth; and jury prizes given to the films “Girl with Black Balloons” and “Scenes of a Crime.”
