Asako Gladsjo Director, Eyes on the Prize III

Asako Gladsjo is an award-winning documentary director, series producer, and writer. Her recent credits include Eyes on the Prize III for HBO, a 6-hour sequel to Henry Hampton’s landmark civil rights series; The Calling, a feature documentary on medical students in the Bronx; Rise and Rebuild: A Tale of Three Cities, co-directed with Sam Pollard; the Discovery series Why We Hate; and By Whatever Means Necessary, for Epix. Gladsjo has won Emmy, DuPont, Peabody, and NAACP Image awards and nominations for PBS series with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. including Black America since MLK: And Still I Rise, The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross, Finding Your Roots, Faces of America, and African American Lives. Formerly based in Paris, Gladsjo has made documentaries on society, culture, race, and immigration for Arte, BBC, France 2, and France 5, among others. She has taught directing in SVA’s MFA program in Social Documentary.
