Melanie Vi Levy Director/Producer

Melanie Vi Levy, Director & Producer is a documentary editor, producer and director based in New York. As a documentary filmmaker, she was a lead editor on the NEH-funded feature-film, Hillbilly (Winner, Best Documentary LA Film Festival). She has contributed as editor to feature films including What She Said, The Art of Pauline Kael (Berlinale, Telluride Premiere), Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines (SXSW Premiere & Broadcast on Independent Lens) and United Skates (Emmy Nominated, HBO) and Ferne Pearlstein’s The Last Laugh among other feature projects. She has directed and edited award-winning short documentaries which have been broadcast on POV (A Different Color Blue), and played at international festivals including True/False, Big Sky, Palm Springs. She is a producer on the feature documentary Nathan-ism which received Doc Aviv’s Yaad Vashem Award for Cinematic Excellence and will have its New York Premiere at DOC NYC this year. She is currently directing and producing her first feature documentary film Untitled Ping Chong Documentary in partnership with co-director Ben Wu and Producer Jamie Dobie and with support from CAAM, ITVS DDF, Ford JustFilms and the Mellon Foundation. She holds a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA in Documentary Film and Video from Stanford University.
