Peter Yost Pangloss Films

Multiple Emmy-nominated filmmaker Peter Yost is founder of Pangloss Films and Co-Director of DOC NYC’S closing night film, “Drop Dead City: NY on the Brink in 1975”, which won the Library of Congress Lavine / Ken Burns Prize for Film. His previous project, “Nazi Town, USA” explored the fascist threat to America in the 1930’s and premiered the 2024 season of PBS’s AMERICAN EXPERIENCE. The Wall Street Journal called it “a fascinating… cautionary tale directed at our current politics.”
Other celebrated Pangloss productions include: “Inside North Korea” which was nominated for an Emmy for Best Long Form Documentary; the Emmy-Nominated environmental film “The Color of Oil”; and “Solitary Confinement”, which helped reform incarceration policies in Colorado and elsewhere. Along with the landmark, four-hour PBS series “Mysteries of Mental Illness”, Yost has directed eight films for the PBS science series, NOVA, and more than a dozen for National Geographic’s Specials Unit.
