Zaynê Akyol

Zaynê Akyol, a Canadian filmmaker of Kurdish origin, holds a master’s degree in cinema from the Université du Québec à Montréal. She gained recognition for her debut documentary, Gulîstan, Land of Roses (2016). Her second film, Rojek, represents Canada at the 2024 Oscars for Best International Feature, which emphasizes the human condition and the political influence of documentaries.
