Flavia da Souza Editor, Lost in the Jungle

Flavia de Souza began her career in post-production in New York in the 1990s, working across reality television, institutional media, and news before focusing primarily on documentary film over the past 15 years. Her recent work includes Razing Liberty Square (2025 News & Documentary Emmy nominee) and Aftershock (2022 Sundance Impact for Change Special Jury Award and Peabody winner), as well as the Oscar-shortlisted short Rovina’s Choice and Lost in the Jungle, which premiered at Telluride.

She became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2024 and received the 2026 Sundance Institute / Adobe Mentorship Award for Nonfiction. A mentor with the Karen Schmeer Fellowship, The Video Consortium, and Brown Girls Doc Mafia, she holds an MFA in Photography and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts.
