About The Position
The Production Director is a pivotal role responsible for orchestrating the efficient and professional management of all DOC NYC festival venues. This includes implementing venue protocols, coordinating key festival events, and ensuring timely inventory and asset management. The role involves hiring and supervising core production staff, ensuring accurate timesheet submissions, and acting as the main liaison with the staffing agency. Post-festival responsibilities include compiling comprehensive wrap reports from production staff and attending a wrap meeting to continuously improve future operations. This position emphasizes seamless venue operations, fostering a collaborative team environment, and maintaining high standards of professionalism throughout the festival.
Responsibilities
Operations:
- Oversee all venue operations with full knowledge of venue needs, layouts and budget parameters
- Ensure all venues are run efficiently and professionally
- Implement protocols, timelines and best practices, updating as needed (in conversation with DOC NYC leadership)
- Establish and share run-of-show documents for theaters with full DOC NYC staff, incorporating information provided from other departments
- Oversee staffing and operations of key festival events including the Visionaries Tribute Luncheon, Festival Lounge, and Staff Appreciation Party
- Establish regular meetings with core production staff and department representatives in lead-up to fest to monitor status of key deliverables and timelines
- Assess inventory, reorder supplies, and coordinate with key stakeholders on materials, delivery, and storage of equipment orders and festival gift bags
Staffing:
- Hire, onboard, and supervise necessary core production staff, including:
- Production Manager
- Production Coordinators
- Crew Manager
- Venue Managers
- Assistant Venue Managers
- Coordinate with staffing agency:
- Onboarding production staff promptly
- Make sure all timesheets are accurate and submitted by deadline; approve all time-cards each Monday
- Act as liaison to staffing agency for any staff concerns
Post-Festival:
- Provide wrap-report with summary of what worked well and recommendations for improvement
- Collect wrap-reports from production staff
- Participate in detailed post-mortem
- Make sure all festival items are stored and cataloged
