DOC NYC PRO: 2024 Spring Season

The Spring 2024 Season is geared towards filmmakers and anyone interested in learning about the documentary industry. The new events focus on vital areas of the filmmaking process, featuring invaluable insight from award-winning independent filmmakers and experts from the independent doc community. Covering topics like DIY Awards Campaigns, Film Festival Submissions, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Pitch Decks and workshops focused on the crafts of Editing and Cinematography, the program will educate and empower documentary filmmakers to help turn their vision into a reality.

The Spring 2024 Season will consist of four events presented online (April 17-May 8) and two in-person at the IFC Center in New York City (April 10 and April 26). For online sessions, all registrants may participate in the live event and will also receive access to the recording, a written transcript, and a copy of any slide presentations after the livestream. The in-person events will be exclusively available to attendees, providing a unique and interactive experience.

Special note: All Spring 2024 PRO attendees are invited to wrap up the season with an exclusive peer-to-peer networking session. Engage in small group consultations where filmmakers walk away with concrete insight into a current dilemma. It’s a unique opportunity for collaborative learning and meaningful exchanges.

Keep the Conversation Going: Don’t stop the learning! After each online session, head straight to a separate Zoom room (link shared during the event) for an exclusive post-webinar discussion with Malikkah and fellow attendees.

Join us for an immersive workshop where clip analysis provides insights into the creative process and techniques used by cinematographers.

It is time for the industry to establish standards in response to the new technology, so that trust with our viewers will remain unbroken,” reads the November 2023 open letter from the newly established Archival Producer’s Alliance (APA).

Visual materials are increasingly important in securing backing and support for documentary projects. But what should go into a pitch deck? And how do you know your visuals are appealing and tell a cohesive story?
