This NEW hands-on, in-person trailer feedback lab will give filmmakers direct, actionable insight into how their projects are resonating with industry representatives.

Participants will screen their trailer (or a fundraising sizzle) and receive focused feedback from two industry experts, centered on what funders and distributors are responding to, and what could be clearer, stronger, or more compelling. After registering, participants will submit either a fundraising or distribution trailer by April 28. A submission form will be sent automatically upon registration.

Confirmed industry experts include Carolyn Hepburn (ESPN Films/ 30 For 30), Jeremy Workman (Wheelhouse Creative), Adam Neuhaus (Neuhaus Ideas/Non-Fiction Hot List) and Kelsey Koenig (Impact Partners) with additional guests to be announced.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE EVENT

Filmmakers taking part in the lab will be grouped in small cohorts; each filmmaker will receive two rounds of real-world feedback (from two different industry experts), while also benefitting from the discussion around their peers’ work.

The lab begins with a brief, collective look at one or two effective documentary trailers to sharpen the group’s shared language around structure, tone, and storytelling impact. Fast-paced, collaborative, and practical, this lab offers a fresh, energizing format for direct evaluation and peer-to-peer learning, one built around close listening, candid exchange, and forward momentum for works in progress.

Note: This event will be held in the Starr Foundation Hall at the New School, 63 Fifth Ave (13th Street).
